This week we have a guest post from two really awesome ladies who put in a lot of hard work for our Region, our RCRs, Olivia LeBlanc and Elise Edwards!

Hi Ladies!

We really enjoyed hosting our first conference call with everyone last week, and we can not tell you how excited we are to be working with such an awesome group of people over the course of the year. We wanted to touch base on some of the topics we discussed on last week’s call!

Do you believe your section can benefit from leadership training? Then you need to check out what the Collegiate Leadership Coaching Committee (CLCC) can offer! CLCC is a wonderful resource to strengthen your section’s organizational management and personal leadership. If you are interested, make sure to contact our CLCC Coach Lead Nahomi Merida Morales at nahomi.merida@gmail.com. Below are the available modules:

  • Dealing with Leadership Burnout
  • Leadership
  • Building Teams
  • Building Membership
  • Fund Development
  • Effective Personal Communications
  • Women in Engineering
  • You’re in SWE, Now What?
  • Managing Effective Meetings
  • Hit the Ground Running – Transitioning from College to Career
  • Strategic and Tactical Planning
  • Event Planning
  • Officer Training
Next, we have E-Postcards. If your section is not covered by your university, you are required to fill out an e-postcard by November 15th as a way to update the IRS with the important details about your section. It’s really easy – It’ll only take about 20 minutes. If you are covered by your university, you do not have to worry about filing for an e-postcards. An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is basically a unique tax ID for your section. It’s a way the IRS keeps track of non-profit organizations like SWE. So now that you are all learned up on the SWE lingo, you can proceed with the steps you need to take to make sure your section is covered. You can find this information and tons more under the resources tab, or on the email recently sent out by us concerning this matter.

Lastly, we have Annual Conference! We couldn’t be more excited to be heading to Chicago on October 13th, and we hope to see all of y’all there! Check out the Annual Conference tab above for more information. And don’t forget about the Blog Post Contest – winning 80 bucks for the conference fee? Awesome!

Hope to talk to everyone again on our next conference call coming up the week before conference!

Your RCRs,

Olivia LeBlanc and Elise Edwards
