The Society of Women Engineers section at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) participated and hosted great events this semester! Here are a few:
UTEP’s Open House to welcome incoming freshmen.
During Discover E-Week, SWE-UTEP members gave high school students engineering department tours to encourage them to consider majoring in engineering.
UTEP also held a few fundraising events to help pay for Region C’s Conference coming up. It was also an opportunity to meet and bond with fellow SWEesters!
To give back to the community, SWE-UTEP had a Canned Food Drive. All the canned goods were donated to the Child Crisis Center, a center dedicated to prevent and treat child abuse.
One of the last events SWE-UTEP participated in was the Latinitas: Aim High Conference. The Aim High Conference is a K-12 outreach event geared towards encouraging girls to aim high by setting goals for themselves, achieving academic realms, exploring future career fields, and connecting with professional role models. SWE-UTEP discussed what engineering is, the different fields within engineering.
It looks like it was a great semester for SWE at UTEP! For more about UTEP’s SWE section visit their Facebook page here!
